
Robert “Rob” E. Dean brings a tech-forward, innovative perspective to the team at Roman Law Firm. Across his work, Rob helps the firm align litigation goals with innovative data solutions for greater efficiency, improved business outcomes, and leading-edge legal practice.
Rob draws from over 15 years of experience spanning complex business litigation, personal injury, medical malpractice, elder abuse, and employment law disputes. He represented catastrophically injured plaintiffs and defends businesses in cases involving trade secrets theft, computer fraud, partnership dissolutions, and restrictive covenant matters.
Rob has pioneered paperless systems leveraging document automation, AI applications, and custom software to provide exceptional service. He tried over 200 cases, managed millions in client funds, led a team of 10 legal professionals, and earned recognition on Virginia Lawyers Weekly’s “Up and Coming Lawyers” list.
Rob gained experience across the legal arena as an associate attorney at Gentry Locke and Frith & Ellerman Law Firm litigating personal injury, medical malpractice, and employment claims. He also served as Assistant Commonwealth Attorney prosecuting violent offenses and leading technology modernization efforts.
A sought-after speaker, Rob has presented extensively on topics from building cloud-based digital law practices to ethics of social media evidence to iPad utilization in the courtroom. He stays actively engaged with the Virginia legal community through writing, speaking, and serving on State Bar committees advancing the business of law.
Rob earned his Juris Doctor from Washington & Lee School of Law where he served as Lead Articles Editor in the Journal of Energy, Climate and the Environment. Outside work, he enjoys community band and providing pro bono services to those lacking access to justice.
